Uzu ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Uzu mobile application (the "App") and the website uzuapp.com (the "Website"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the App, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect the information you provide, such as your email address and authentication credentials. Authentication is managed by our backend provider, Supabase.
Content You Create
The App is built around your personal content. This includes your chat conversations with the AI, saved memories and notes, and any images you attach for analysis. Conversations and memories are stored locally on your device by default, and synchronized to your cloud account when you are signed in.
Voice and Audio
If you use voice input, we process audio from your microphone to transcribe your speech into text so it can be used as a prompt. Transcription is performed by speech recognition services, and the resulting text is treated as content you create.
Camera and Photos
If you choose to capture or select images, we process them to provide AI analysis, text recognition (OCR), and memory extraction. We only access the camera or photo library when you take an action that requires it.
Device and Diagnostic Information
We collect limited technical information such as device model, operating system version, app version, crash reports, and performance data to keep the App stable and secure.
Biometric Data
If you enable the app lock feature, Uzu can use Face ID or your fingerprint to protect your chat history and settings. Biometric verification is performed by your device's operating system — Uzu never collects, stores, or transmits your biometric data.
Purchase Information
Purchases are processed by Google Play and the Apple App Store. We receive transaction confirmations (such as product identifiers and purchase status) to deliver your entitlements. We do not store your payment details.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide and improve the App's features, including AI conversations, memories, missions, and widgets;
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure;
- To sync your content across your devices when you are signed in;
- To diagnose bugs, analyze crashes, and maintain performance;
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. AI Processing
Uzu uses third-party artificial intelligence services to generate responses and extract memories from your content. When you send a message, relevant context from your conversation and memories may be processed by these AI providers solely to generate a response for you. Do not share sensitive information (such as health, financial, or identity details) that you would not want processed to provide the service.
4. Third-Party Services
The App relies on the following third-party services, each of which processes data under its own privacy policy:
- Google Play Services — core app functionality on Android, including billing and security. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google AdMob — advertising. Google and its partners may use advertising identifiers to show ads. You can limit ad personalization in your device settings (for example, "Delete advertising ID" on Android or "Limit Ad Tracking" on iOS). See How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.
- Expo — app infrastructure, over-the-air updates, and crash and telemetry data. See the Expo Privacy Policy.
- Supabase — authentication, database hosting, and server-side processing of your account and synced content. See the Supabase Privacy Policy.
5. Data Retention and Security
Uzu is built local-first: your conversations and memories live on your device, and cloud data is protected by row-level security so only you can access your account's records. Data is encrypted in transit, and we apply least-privilege access controls across our infrastructure.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (available in the App's settings), we delete or anonymize your personal data from our servers, except where retention is required for legal, security, or legitimate business purposes.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including under the GDPR and CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate data;
- Delete your account and associated data;
- Export your data;
- Object to or restrict certain processing;
- Withdraw consent at any time (for example, by disabling personalized ads or deleting the App).
To exercise these rights, contact us at uzuapp2@gmail.com or use the account deletion feature in the App.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. International Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for such transfers.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be highlighted in the App.
10. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or about how we handle your data, contact us at uzuapp2@gmail.com.
